About
The Digi–Toll

Much of my new media, digital arts and design creative practice has been fueled by underlying ideas that have remained constant within my work, regardless of the form or medium—often dealing with identity, irony, and the psychology of manipulation within a technology-driven culture. They reflect a deep interest in questioning power dynamics, equity, the value of work and labor, and domesticity—often studied through the lens of monotony. Key threads woven throughout are those of intent and purpose. I seek to blur boundaries and recontextualize information in order to redefine perception.

Experimental animation allows continual exploration of my fascination with repetition as it relates to domesticity. It affords me the opportunity to push visual communication that so perfectly elevates this focus, in that the repetition and monotony can be experienced in a real-time environment. One of the most exciting aspects of animation to me is the immediacy and totality of the fantasy.

A significant purpose of my work is to document and archive a question in visual form and test its relevance and meaning through like moments over time. My creative work has almost always had a significant focus on the burden of repetition and also very often plays on my interest in studying power and intent while also examining the concepts of manipulation and perpetuation.

In that vein, I have become more focused on concepts of intent and equity while still looking at aspects of power, time and additionally, relevance. The psychology of manipulation has always played a large part in my research interests. I am currently looking at the relationship between society and neurodiversity and more pointedly, in questioning the intent, purpose, and means which perpetuate status quo thinking.
