Project MAMA II (Sail Projections): Phenakistoscope Animation Series
This series of experimental animated works are inspired by early forms of animation like the phenakistoscope c1841 and zoopraxiscope c1879 that used a series of drawings and later photographs on a spinning disc to create the illusion of motion using the persistence of vision principle.
This project uses a custom visualizer-sequencer that allows analog and/or digital (animation discs) to play in real-time with accompanying soundscapes.
Installation: is variable and can be projected on mama sail, a detached sail, or directly projected on screens or wall, or monitors)
Duration: is variable as pending number of animation discs presented (looped)

Above Board (Sail Projections) | 2018 - Present
Project MAMA II is a new iteration of a collaborative touring project that was first launched in 2006. MAMA, a Media Art Mobile Attack Unit, is a Road Ready Utility Trunk prepared to contain, transport, dynamically showcase, and exhibit new media based work. The newly recommissioned* Media Art Mobile Attack Unit has been upgraded with racing graphics, new displays and main projector, and a very cool (new) main sail for screening work.
